About Us
You May Think You Know
But You Have No Idea
Dr. Godfrey V. Taylor has been our Director since the '03-'04 school year. He holds a BS degree in Music Education from Florida A & M University, he did some graduate work at Howard University and holds a MARS and a PhD in Theology from Williamstown University. He is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association, the Florida Vocal Association and the Music Educators' National Conference. Dr. Taylor is also the Pastor of the Union Bethel and St. James A.M.E. Churches of Crescent City and Welaka, respectively.

The mission of the CCJSHS Music Department is to musically educate and challenge a community of actively involved, culturally diverse students in a safe learning environment, thus creating confident, self-directed, lifelong learners in an everchanging society through music.
We have performed at the GFWC Political Rally, the 135th Birthday Celebration for the Town of Pomona Park, the Azalea Festival at the Ravine Gardens and the Veteran's Day Parade in Palatka, as well as, Christmas Parades in Hastings, Welaka and here in Crescent City. We participated in the DAYTONA SPEED WEEK KICK-OFF PARADE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL and the PRIDE OF FLORIDA MARCHING BAND COMPETITION, CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA winning "BEST IN CLASS" trophies in each. We had 5 students participate in the FBA Dist. 21 Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessment with 3 students receiving Superior ratings and 2 students with Excellent ratings. The future for us looks ever promising!
